Our Mission Statement

The purpose of Lilliput Early Childhood Center’s program is to meet the individual needs of each child as we prepare them for further education and instill a love of learning. We offer a safe environment suited to each child’s learning needs.  We have opportunities for typical association with other children in work and play. We provide for the growth and development of each child’s physical, social emotional and cognitive abilities under the guidance of qualified, creative teachers. Each child will be encouraged to explore, discover and create through a multi-sensory approach to learning. 

Most important, the objectives of Lilliput Early Childhood Center is to include the development of a positive self-concept among all children. This "first school" experience should develop a sense of joy, wonder and curiosity in the world around us, and a love of learning.

Our Story

Lilliput Early Childhood Center was started by Linda Sullivan. In 1985. Linda was teaching first grade at Paton school when she gave birth to her third daughter. Wanting to be at home with her children but also wanting to continue teaching she opened her first preschool class, renting a sunday school room from the First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury. Linda taught the preschool class her first year and Lilliput Early Childhood Center was born. 

After her first year Linda hired her former colleague to open a second classroom and steadily continued to grow.  After 11 years Lilliput moved out of the church and into its current location.
